TikTok returns to operation in the US after suspension: understand the case

TikTok resumed operations in the United States on the afternoon of Sunday (19) after being suspended due to legislation that prohibited the platform's operation in the country unless it was sold by its Chinese parent company, ByteDance. Users were notified of the app's return via notifications on Android and iOS devices.

A few hours after the app was deactivated, users were able to access the platform again and received a notification stating that TikTok was back in the country.

"Thank you for your patience and support! As a result of President Trump's efforts, TikTok is back in the United States! You can continue creating, sharing, and discovering everything you love on TikTok," read the notification.

The resumption of operations was also announced on one of the company’s official profiles on X (formerly Twitter). In a statement, the company explained that "TikTok is in the process of restoring service."

However, according to The Verge, as of now, the app has not yet returned to the App Store (iOS) and Play Store (Android) in the United States.
