More than 6 months have passed since Google released the next update of the main algorithm - Core Update. The last such update was released on May 4, 2020.
During the last webmaster hangout, RankRanger's Mihai Apergis asked Google employee John Mueller if the next Core Update would be released before the end of this year.
In response, Mueller stated that it is always difficult to launch such updates at the end of the year, as it usually is a difficult time for everyone. At the same time, the fourth quarter is always not the right time for any changes. In general, Mueller noted that he was not sure if the next update would be released this year.
But when Apergis tweeted that we are unlikely to see the next Core Update before the holidays, Mueller replied that it sounded "too optimistic", and the final decision has not yet been made.
