Google temporarily banned political ads

Against the backdrop of political instability in the United States, Google Ads has suspended all announcements mentioning political topics until the end of the inauguration of President-elect of the United States Joe Biden.

Political ads will not run for at least a week starting January 14th.

Google also noted that they plan to constantly monitor the situation and, if necessary, are ready to extend this decision for a longer period.

This is not the first such prohibition applied to political advertising.

“We regularly suspend ads due to unpredictable and sensitive events, where ads can be used to abuse those events or to amplify misleading information,” a Google spokesman said.

Google's ban is total and applies to both news organizations and commercial companies.
